An inspirational and moving musical play recounting the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus. During this two hour production, the audience journeys with Mary as she grows from child to woman, wife and mother. Understand Mary as a woman of strength and faith whose commitment to God reminds us we are all called to a life of service.

Just as Jesus Christ Superstar put the passion of Christ to music, Mary’s Veil brings together faith and music to provide a moving insight into the life of the one of the most powerful and revered women of all time, Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Mary’s Veil recounts the life of Mary the mother of Jesus through a narrated musical of 23 numbers. The production opens with the singing of the prayer "Hail Mary". In "Bless Us Lord", Mary’s parents, Anna and Joachim pray to know the joys of having their own child. They believe the Lord answers their prayers when they discover Anna is expecting a child and they rejoice during the song "I Bring New Life."

Anna and Joachim recognize Mary was a gift from the Lord and so, as was a custom of the time, they turned her over to the temple to be raised and educated until the age of 15. In "Longing" Mary has now reached the age when she will leave the temple and she sings of her pledge to God to be of service.

According to apocryphal writings, the temple leaders approach Joseph the Carpenter, to act as guardian and protector, for young Mary. He, a man of 50, a widower and father of six children, struggles with this decision to remarry in the song "Once Again"

In "I’ll Be the One" both Mary and Joseph sing of their fears after discovering Mary is to have a child. As they come to their personal sense of understanding, they sing of their commitment to each other and God in "We Have Been Promised".

The birth of Jesus ("Little Angel") his growth ("Time Will Tell") and Mary’s evolving relationship with Joseph ("Beautiful Girl") come to a conclusion at the end of the First Act when Joseph dies and Mary sings of her love (I’ll Love you Even More") and Jesus seeks comfort from his mother in "Woman of Grace".

Mary Magdalene opens Act II with a Leper and a Beggar singing "God Send Me a Hero" who might save them from their plight. It seems their prayer is answered in "Man of Miracles" where the miracles of Jesus are described.

As Jesus continues in his ministry he causes reaction and anger from those he opposes. Mary is confronted in "Mary Have You Heard" by one of the many who believe that Jesus may encounter danger because of his teachings and he needs to be stopped. Jesus responds to this verbal attack in "Love Will Be the Last Word".

The arrest, sentencing and crucifixion of Jesus in "Ministry", culminates with the heart wrenching song "Mary’s Cry" as Mary pleads with God to spare her son, then finally singing in anguish as she holds the body of her son. From a distance Peter looks on and sings of his own turmoil as a man who has denied his best friend in "Three Times Denied".

"Hope" describes the joy of the resurrection as the entire cast sings of a renewed strength and faith. The time following the resurrection is challenging for all of Jesus’ followers and Mary Magdalene sings of her loneliness, confusion and the trials of proclaiming Jesus’ message in his absence in "The Dream". With strength and faith Mary consoles, encourages and enlightens the disheartened by reminding them the spirit of Jesus is in all that surround them ("I Am There"). The play ends with Mary’s song of illumination as she sings of her relationship with God and her personal understanding of her life of service in "Dedication: I Know You"

The events of Mary’s Veil are based on Apocryphal writings and theological interpretations of these writings. They represent only one possibility of what Mary’s life may have been like.
